    Understanding telemedicine

    What Is a Telemedicine Consultation?

A telemedicine consultation is a healthcare appointment conducted remotely through secure video or other approved communication technology.

During a THRYVE consultation, a provider can discuss your health history, review symptoms and existing results, recommend clinically appropriate testing and explain potential next steps without requiring a routine clinic visit.

    Coordinated Care

    More Than a Video Appointment

THRYVE's telemedicine model connects the virtual consultation with other parts of your care. When appropriate, this may include:

    • Provider-selected testing
    • At-home specimen collection or mobile phlebotomy
    • Contextual result review
    • Individualized recommendations
    • Continued virtual follow-up

    At-Home Testing With Telemedicine Care

When testing is clinically appropriate, THRYVE coordinates the collection method available for the ordered test and your location. Certain specimens may be collected using an at-home test kit, while some blood tests may be completed through mobile phlebotomy.

Your provider reviews relevant results in the context of your symptoms, history and goals.

Testing is selected according to the clinical question and is not automatically required for every telemedicine patient.

How to Prepare for Your Virtual Consultation

A few minutes of preparation helps you and your provider make the most of the visit:

    • Complete requested intake forms
    • Prepare a current medication and supplement list
    • Gather relevant previous test results
    • Write down your main symptoms and questions
    • Use a phone, tablet or computer with a reliable internet connection

    • Follow any additional instructions supplied by THRYVE
    In-Person Care

When In-Person Care May Be Needed

Telemedicine can support many consultations, result reviews and follow-up appointments, but it is not suitable for every healthcare need. A provider may recommend an in-person examination, imaging, specimen collection, urgent evaluation or referral when clinically necessary.

    Medical emergencies

THRYVE's telemedicine service is not intended for medical emergencies. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate emergency care.
