What Is Mobile Phlebotomy?
Mobile phlebotomy is a service in which a trained phlebotomist travels to a patient's home or another eligible location to collect blood or other approved specimens for laboratory testing.
The samples collected are then prepared and transported to the appropriate laboratory for processing.

Mobile phlebotomy is one part of THRYVE's coordinated testing process. When laboratory testing is appropriate, a provider selects or recommends relevant testing based on your health history, symptoms and goals. THRYVE then coordinates an eligible collection option, laboratory processing, secure result delivery and provider review when included in your care plan.
The phlebotomist's visit is one step in a coordinated testing pathway. Collection follows a provider's testing decision and, when included in your care plan, leads to a follow-up review after results become available. This connects the convenience of an at-home blood draw with the clinical context needed to understand what the results may mean for your care.
For patients who are new to THRYVE, the process usually begins with a Telemedicine Consultation. During that consultation, a provider reviews your health concerns and determines whether testing and mobile collection are appropriate.

Before Your Visit
Preparing for an At-Home Blood Draw
Preparation depends on the tests being collected. Before your appointment, follow the instructions provided by your care team or ordering provider. These instructions may include fasting, adjusting appointment timing or having identification and testing information available.
- Review the testing instructions supplied
- Confirm whether fasting is required
- Have identification available
- Drink water unless instructed otherwise
- Choose a stable chair and clear surface
- Tell the phlebotomist about previous difficulties with blood draws
Unless instructed otherwise, drink water normally and choose a clean, well-lit area where the phlebotomist can safely complete the collection.
Do not change medications or supplements unless instructed by the appropriate healthcare professional.
